Cátia Pinho has a 5-year degree (equivalent to integrated Master) in Engineering Physics and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering. She is currently working toward the conclusion of her Ph.D. (2014-2019) under the MAP-tele Doctoral Programme in Telecommunications at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. Research experience and skills include Optics (e.g., photonic integrated circuits, fiber optics and optical systems design/testing), Biomedical Engineering (e.g., signal processing and development of health information technologies), Leadership and Teamwork. Pinho has participated in several national/international funded projects and has authored/co-authored up to 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences, and three book chapters.
In the scope of her Ph.D. studies performed supplementary research/training at the Optical Communications and Photonic Integration (OCPI) group from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), the Centre for Advanced Photonics and Electronics (CAPE) - Electrical Engineering Division of the University of Cambridge, and the Photonic Research Labs - iTEAM Research Institute from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).
