FCT has released the provisional results of the Exploratory Projects Call under international partnerships with Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin).
Under the scope of the CMU Portugal Program, eight new exploratory research projects have been selected for funding. The 2024 call received a total of 40 proposals, of which eight were recommended for funding by FCT's independent panel of evaluators.
Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT) is among the four research institutions recognized in this call, with two awarded projects in the field of Quantum Communications, one project led by the researcher João Ribeiro, and another, coordinated by the principal investigator Emmanuel Zambrini Cruzeiro:
The CMU Portugal Program regularly supports the launch of Exploratory Research Projects (ERPs), aiming to strengthen Portugal's international competitiveness and capacity for innovation in Science and Technology (S&T), particularly in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
