Creating and sharing knowledge for telecommunications

Overview

Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT) is an ORCID member organization since January 2018. ORCID is a non-profit organization supported by a global community of organizational members, including research organizations, publishers, funders, professional associations, and other stakeholders in the research ecosystem.

ORCID provides a persistent digital identifier that distinguishes each researcher from every other and, through integration in key research workflows such as manuscript and grant submission, supports automated linkages between the researcher and its professional activities ensuring that his work is recognized.

Instituto de Telecomunicações web system is using ORCID services to two-way sync metadata between the two databases. This means that, subject to the researcher authorization, IT database can automatically update the researcher's record in the ORCID Registry. Or, it can automatically import works from ORCID Registry and update missing information in the researcher's record in IT web system. The reliability of the updates is based on the uniqueness of each researcher ORCID ID .
