Creating and sharing knowledge for telecommunications

Project: REVOLUTIONIZING RADAR THROUGH COMMUNICATIONS TOWARDS ENVIRONMENT SENSING

Acronym: REVOLUTION
Main Objective:
The project fits in the generic area of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, more precisely Telecommunications.

The reason is obvious: the project targets the 6th Generation of Cellular Networks. Unlike 4G and 5G, which basically were continuous evolution, 6G has the potential of being disruptive by adding an embedded sensing component, which means that for the first time the system will no longer be a communication only network but will include embedded radio sensing, paving the way towards what is sometimes termed as “perceptive network”.

To be more specific, the technical areas targeted in the proposal are:

Network architecture;
Signal processing;
Radar type sensing;
Machine Learning;
Electronics hardware ranging from digital to RF.
All these areas, with some intersections with mathematics and computer science, are under the umbrella of electrical and electronics engineering.
