Abstract
In unamplified coherent systems, the conventional use of Maxwell-Boltzmann (MB) in probabilistic constellation shaping is largely sub-optimal. We optimize the probability mass function for these systems, and experimentally show a link budget gain of 4.1 dB at 400 Gbps.
