Bio

Beatriz Manata de Oliveira concluded her PhD in Electrical Engineering in May 2024 at Universidade de Aveiro, with her thesis "Digitally-Enhanced Unamplified Coherent Optical Systems". Her PhD work focused on achieving efficient high-speed, short-distance optical links through advanced modulation formats, such as probabilistic and geometric constellation shaping. She is currently integrated with the Optical Communication Systems and Networking group in Instituto de Telecomunicações, in Aveiro, focusing on topics such as coherent communications and digital signal processing. She received 3 awards, the most recent being the runner-up for the "Best Student Paper" in ECOC 2023. As an executive member of the Optica Student Chapter at University of Aveiro, she was part of the organization of the "First Iberic Meeting of Optics Students (IMOS)" held in Aveiro in June 2022.
