Abstract
In this paper, we evaluate the application of Filter Bank Multicarrier (FBMC) for radar operations to mitigate inter-system interference in combined radar/communications (RadCom) systems, one limiting factor of the radar’s performance. This analysis is verified with simulations and real measurements at 24 GHz for a scenario with one user and another with multiple users. To the authors’ knowledge, this paper presents, for the first time, the validation of QAM-FBMC radar with real measurements. The results show that FBMC is less affected by inter-system interference than OFDM.
