Acronym: REAct |
Main Objective: The recent progress in electronics and networking has shifted the interest of Research and Innovation communities from the provision of basic applications like communications between individuals and entertainment to the innovation of more vital systems and applications that aim to enhance individuals’ quality of life. This has led to a huge interest in the Internet of Things (IoT), and in particular the e-Health field. Due to the demographic shift (increase of the world’s population over 65 years old) and lifestyle changes (towards a more sedentary lifestyle), the demand for e-Health to enhance the quality of life by a continuous health monitor is increasing. These demographic changes instigate an increase in health risks and e-Health is foreseen as the solution to help mitigate the risk of such health problems and enable debilitated people to maintain an enriching, fulfilling lifestyle. The use of advanced innovative systems for health status monitor, assistance and rehabilitation must center its functionality in the dual interaction with humans both on a cognitive and physical level. Addressing the challenges and requirements of e-health devices, the main goal of the project is to develop the next-generation of monitoring systems to support health promotion, patient-centric care and well-being during daily activities and physical rehabilitation therapies. |
