Abstract:
This communication addresses a hot and updated topic focusing on Internet of Intelligent Things, considering their major challenges and issues in terms of research.It starts with an introduction to IoT and its typical application scenarios considering different verticals. Smart Cities will receive particular focus and their complexity and challenges. Relevant aspects considering opportunities for IoT will be addressed, considering promising verticals. Some projects will be presented such as examples of IoT solutions. The communication ends with new trends and issues on IoT, suggesting further research topics.
Bio:
Joel Rodrigues is a professor at the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI), Brazil; a senior researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT), Portugal; and collaborator of PPGETI, Federal university of Ceará, Brazil. His main research interests include Internet technologies, sensor networks, mobile and ubiquitous computing, vehicular communications, e-learning and e-health technologies, mobile and cloud computing. He has authored or co-authored over 850 scientific publications. He is Fellow of IEEE, ACM Senior Member, IEEE ComSoc Distinguished Lecturer, Past-Director for Conference Development - IEEE ComSoc Board of Governors, a Past-Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee on eHealth, and a Past-Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee on Communications Software. Joel is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of E-Health and Medical Communications (from IGI Global, USA). He is the Symposium Co-Chair leader of Several ICC/GLOBECOM conferences, among others.
