I joined IT in 2011 when I started my Master thesis under the supervision of both Prof. Jorge R. Costa and Prof. Carlos A. Fernandes. One year later, after finishing my Master degree at ISCTE-IUL, I started a Joint Doctoral programme between IST in Portugal and EPFL in Switzerland. On the Portuguese side, IT was my host institution where I kept working with the same supervisors. My research focused on the design of feed antennas to be integrated into mechanical beam steering ground terminals for satellite-on-the-move operating simultaneously at downlink and uplink Ka-bands. One of the highlights of my research was the successful fabrication of the antennas using an additive technique called Stereolithography in collaboration with the company SWISSto12 and its integration in the aforementioned systems. In 2017, after completing my PhD, I have decided to stay in Switzerland where I joined the company HUBER+SUHNER as Antenna Engineer and Project Manager. My daily tasks vary from providing RF solutions for new antenna products targeting different markets (e.g.: Rail+Road, Small Cells and In-Building Coverage) to leading R&D antenna projects from concept to series production with direct supervision and coordination of timeline, cost and interdisciplinary international teams. The jump into the industry world in a global company has been so far a great learning experience.
