Currently, I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at IT and an Invited Assistant Professor at the Department of Information Science and Technology of ISCTE-IUL. (see more)
I joined Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT) in 2010 as a full time Researcher to work in the European Commission’s project 3D VIVANT (Live Immerse Video-Audio Interactive Multimedia), under the supervision of Professors Luís Ducla Soares and Paulo Nunes. One year later, I started my PhD at ISCTE-IUL and IT with the same supervisors. My PhD work, which I finished in June 2017, was focused on immersive visual media, with major contributions to the area of light field content processing, representation, and coding. This long-term collaboration with IT has been proven very fruitful. More significantly, I have had the opportunity to participate in many national and international scientific research projects in the area of novel immersive visual media. In addition, in 2017, I was awarded with the 27th edition of the IBM Scientific Prize for the work entitled Efficient Solutions for Light Field Coding. Last year, I successfully applied to the FCT Stimulus of Scientific Employment 2017 program and, at that time, I had no doubt I would choose IT as my host institution. Currently, I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at IT and an Invited Assistant Professor at the Department of Information Science and Technology of ISCTE-IUL. I am well aware that the support and guidance received from IT were essential to the results I have achieved so far. For this reason, I am fully motivated and confident that this collaboration with IT will continue proving valuable for advancing my career as a researcher.
