Mission
The mission of this thematic line is to carry out research at the highest international level of scientific excellence, contributing to the methodological and scientific cores of the areas that it encompasses: namely, artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as analysis, coding, description, mining, visualization, protection, and communication of multimedia information. The area will focus (though not exclusively so) on a collection of relevant application domains: healthcare, biometrics, surveillance, remote sensing, human-machine interaction, personal communications, entertainment, and social networks. This research should not only lead to scientific production at top international venues but also contribute to real-world products and services, which may have an effective impact on the quality of life of modern societies.
