Abstract
This paper describes an experimental setup used to carry on the time domain induced polarization test that is used in geological surveys to characterize soils and rocks. The test setup is centered around a portable computer running an application developed for this purpose. The paper explains how to build such an application using National Instruments’ graphical programming language LabVIEW. Resistivity and chargeability results of diesel oil contaminated and uncontaminated soils are presented which illustrate the operation of the test system.
