Abstract
In this article, an affordable system to demonstrate some antenna parameters is described. It consists of a transmitter (Tx) based on a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), a receiver (Rx) implemented with radio-frequency (RF) detectors, and a rotary mechanical arrangement based on a stepper motor. A microcontroller (μC) performs the rotation, acquires data, and manages a set of peripherals. The measurements can be observed in real time and sent to a PC. The setup is easy to operate, making it a convenient tool for demonstrations in high schools to attract students to telecommunications.
