Abstract
We analyze the dynamic behavior of the pump reflecting Raman amplifier. The theoretical analysis is based on an application of the propagation equations for the Raman amplifier, that incorporates the time variation. An experimental validation of the simulator was made for a counter-pumped RFA. We simulate the pump reflecting Raman amplifier in different scenarios to assess the impact of reflecting the pump power in the behavior of the amplifier, when channel add/drop occur. Results show that despite an increase in gain, the transient effect in the surviving channel is increased.
