We analyze the pump reflecting Raman fiber amplifier in the steady-state and in the dynamic regime. The numerical model is based on the propagation equations of the Raman fiber amplifier (RFA), which incorporates time and space variation.
An experimental validation of the model is made. To better understand the impact of reflecting the pump power back into the amplifier fiber, a comparison with the traditional pumping scheme is presented. Results show that the reflection of the pump
power increases the amplifier efficiency, but it also increases the transient response in the surviving channel.
