Abstract
The paper addresses the problem of positioning inside buildings using a GNSS receiver. Since signals in indoor environments are very weak, a high-sensitivity receiver aided by a barometric altimeter is shown to be a suitable option. A specially tailored least-squares algorithm is proposed for the solution of the navigation equation. Simulation results prove that a well calibrated altimeter helps reduce significantly the positioning errors both in the vertical axis and the horizontal plane.
