Abstract
This paper presents the first results obtained using a new algorithm for frequency estimation of single-tone signals. The
algorithm is based on compensation of the spectrum leakage caused by incoherent sampling and finite number of samples. The
compensation is an iterative process in which a theoretical spectrum of a rectangular windowed single-tone signal is best-fitted on the spectrum of the sampled signal. This approach enables accurate estimation not only of the signal’s frequency but also of its amplitude and phase. The influence of noise and harmonic distortion is analyzed. The algorithm is also tested on data measured from a single-phase power system. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared to several frequency estimation algorithms.
