Abstract
A coordinate-free dyadic formulation for the eigenwaves of a reciprocal bianisotropic medium that is able to take time dispersion into account is presented. A general biquadratic equation, depending only on the constitutive dyadics of the medium and allowing a straightforward determination of the optic axes, is then derived. As an application of the formalism herein developed a dispersive pseudochiral omega medium is analyzed: a new set of 3D-surfaces for the index of refraction is shown and the optic axes are analytically
determined.
