Abstract
The 5G Era demands delivering high speed, ultra low latency and exceptional reliability. MIMO Antennas are a key enabler for such performance. However, mutual coupling (MC) is a reality that degrades the overall system’s performance. This work focuses on comparing antenna decoupling techniques presenting six different structures all with four identical radiating elements, but each one of the arrays has a different approach to reduce MC. A basic original structure is shown as a reference and then five alternatives are presented: i) 45° rotation of the patches, ii) shielding vias, iii) parasitic L shaped elements, iv) crossed and v) rectangular slots. Besides this, the alterations in resonance, bandwidth, directivity and efficiency will be analyzed.
