Abstract
With the application of Internet of Things (loT) in industrial contexts, companies managed to create the fourth step in the industrial revolution, the Industry 4.0 (14.0). In this era, industries use various machines, devices, sensors, and systems to enhance operational efficiency, optimize business processes and enable data driven decision-making. Despite that, security concerns within these environments have been very prevalent, as not only do these industries have an increased attack surface over traditional factories, but also loT devices are usually not designed with robust security features in mind. Companies that want to adopt the 14.0 paradigm must address this situation and consider cybersecurity as a mandatory step towards this adoption. However, applying security measures in Industrial Internet of Things (1IoT) environments can be quite challenging, and even though there are many well established cybersecurity frameworks and international standards, these documents can be very extensive and sometimes hard to follow, as they are generic to cover a wide range of businesses. The main goal of this work is to present a security framework designed for IloT environments, that dictates a more direct and simpler approach in the form of a specific set of actions needed to secure these types of environments. The work was based on a real case study of a mould industry environment.
