This paper presents an analytical model to deal with repulsive magnetic levitation (MAGLEV) in an electromagnetic suspension (EMS) system. The physical model is simulated in a way that the magnetic field due to time-varying currents circulating in a coil creates induced currents (eddy currents) in a conducting plane sheet located in the vicinity. The analytical electromagnetic field due to the presence of the conducting sheet is developed using Carson´s integral forms. Results are compared with experimental ones described in the literature as well as with those obtained by using a finite element method (FEM) model.
