Abstract
Cardiovascular diseases are the cause of death of millions of people every year. With the increase availability of robust and low-cost diagnostic devices many of these deaths could be avoided. Integrated sensor technology, particularly, pulse oximetry offers a unique non-invasive and specific test for the severity assessment of such diseases. It provides a non- invasive measurement of the photoplethysmogram, which allows the extraction of heart rate and oxygen saturation. Some diseases diagnosis require simultaneous monitoring of the pulse oximetry values in various body locations. This paper presents a platform that allows to monitor in a mobile device various PO sensors placed along the human body, connected via a processing module with a Bluetooth interface. Implementation aspects related to the proposed architecture, taking into consideration power consump- tion, connectivity and App software are discussed in this paper.
