This paper presents new emergent insights to the application of electronically Reconfigurable Transmitarray (eRT) with two-dimensional (2D) beamsteering capability and agile (fast) lobe switching. A novel electronically reconfigurable transmitarray with 2D beamsteering capability has been simulated in CST Microwave Studio, prototyped and validated on a 5-by-5 unit-cell stacked low profile structure with active feeding, coupled to the aperture of a standard gain horn antenna, at 5.2 GHz. The paper also addresses several design issues and results are presented on beamsteering characterisation, angular response and beam direction sensitivity. Showcase applications of the proposed eRT device are also included herein
