The concept behind Internet of Things (IoT) has been widely addressed in the last years. Developments in many field facilitate the emergence of multiple approaches to develop Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN).
This paper presents a comparison between a passive and active solution for a short-rage WSN. The work compares different ap- proaches to create a WSN based on commercial technologies (Bluetooth) and a custom solution that utilizes Wireless Power Transmission (WPT) and backscatter. The waste explores the ar- chitectures power consumption, the battery production and effi- ciency process.
