Abstract
This paper presents initial results on the development of a 2D transmitarray antenna at 28 GHz with lectronic beamsteering capabilities for reflectometry systems. This paper includes a proof-of-concept study of an electronic tunable transmitarray (TA) using active metamaterials, that would allow easy 2D beamsteering and/or fast lobe switching in future 5G and RADAR applications, using discrete surface mount capacitors. To obtain the intended characteristics, a parametric study for the number of layers in the unit stacked cell is presented. Simulation results carried out on a full wave EM Solver (CST MWS) show that with the introduced unit stacked cell a beamsteering of ± 2.
