Abstract
The system consists of a low-cost unmanned solar powered electric floating platform for navigating in the sea close to the cost.
It has a stain steel tubular chassis with two fluctuant devices strategically disposed in the laterals and a flat photovoltaic panel in the middle. The con-struction is symmetrical, as it can turn around due to any maritime phenomenon.
The propulsion system is obtained with 2 DC motors with gear box and tur-bine. They are disposed in the back of the platform, located in the corners, in order to combine the self-propulsion with maneuvering capabilities. The engines have a gravity operated mechanism that enables their operationally in any position.
The platform has a GPS, a fathometer, digital cameras to monitor and get pictures, accelerometers, gyroscopes, compasses and temperature and humidity sensors.
Communications are GSM and in case of unavailability, alternative strategies using ISM bands are used.
The experimental results obtained are promising.
