Abstract
A new two-dimensional (2D) beamsteering antenna
technique using a transmitarray based on metamaterials, is
proposed in this paper. When coupled to a conventional horn
antenna, the proposed technique allows the steering of the
original main lobe of the antenna pattern in both elevation and
azimuth planes, with ranges up to 25o and 25o, respectively.
The proposed technique has been demonstrated on a 5 x 5
unit-cell stacked structure, in which electromagnetic simulations
performed at 5.35 GHz, allowed the evaluation of the unit-cell
parameters. A comparison between experimental results obtained
from a physical prototype and simulations, will be presented
in the full paper. Initial findings have clearly demonstrated the
potential of using metamaterials in such application
