Abstract
On the path to revolutionize the mobile communications world, the Long Term Evolution (LTE) uses a technique that will be an highly utilized resource in mobile networks: Relaying. This technique has the aim of increasing the network capacity and coverage, being a low-cost solution from the networks providers viewpoint. The aim of this paper is to study the Relay Station (RS) deployment impact in several LTE scenarios characterized by different reuse distance, taking into account the Signal-to-Noise plus Interference (SNIR) levels, the data rates and the additional expenses due to RS deployment. It was confirmed the RS usefulness and, the obtained results, showed that a given scenario with a larger number of RSs can achieve the same performance as an equivalent scenario without any RS but with higher reuse distance.
