Abstract
This paper describes a distributed management architecture for large scale cloud computing scenar- ios. The paper stresses the need for management architectures in the provision of cloud computing services as utilities and identifies some of their key requirements. The identification of different service models (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) and deployment models as well as the usage of ontologies are pointed as the architecture’s chief concepts. Using these concepts, data agnostic storage, cross- layer and distributed nature are identified as main design guidelines. Funcional and non-functional aspects of the management architecture are assessed by deploying it on a large scala distributed platform (PalnetLab) where it is used to manage a multimedia service in an heterogeneous scenario.
