Abstract
We have investigated WDM with solitons launched near the zero-dispersion wavelength of dispersion-shifted single-mode fibers. The effect of initial overlap and the dispersion mismatch between the two channels of a bichromatic system are both analyzed. We have shown that the μ-coefficient, accounting for the dispersion mismatch between channels, plays an important role: there is an upper bound for μ above which the WDM system is not stable for long-haul links. There is a possible trade off between μ, the initial overlap q0 and the total distance L.
