Abstract
In this paper, we designed a radio-frequency (RF) frontend based on commercially available integrated circuits to provide a 4G-LTE-based communication system over band 7. It is intended that this RF frontend will integrate an open testbed for multi-radio access technologies development.
A cascade of amplifiers is designed and optimised for both uplink and downlink directions using their S-parameter models. Experimental tests demonstrate that this RF frontend has high power gain while it maintains the error vector magnitude of the 4G-LTE signal under the standardized limits for 64QAM modulation over 20 MHz bandwidth.
