Project: Biomaterials for the assemblage of regenerative-inspired scaffolds for the electrical stimulation of spinal cord

Acronym: BioMaterARISES
Main Objective:
Project BioMaterARISES is an exploratory project that aims at providing new electroconductive materials suitable for tissue engineering. The success of this project will allow to use
the developed materials in the design of novel constructs crucial for potential clinical applications, including reliable in vitro models to study disease progression and study new
therapeutic approaches, and transplantation of autologous cells into patients. The overall goals of the project include:
A. Developing new fully biodegradable/biodispersible and bioactive electrocomposites;
B. Development of the best bioactive cue combination to boost MSC osteogenic differentiation;
C. Development of a bioactive 3D-printing filament, through the incorporation of the best combination of chemical cues (e.g. GAGs, proteins) in the polymer structure.
D. Creation of 3D-constructs suitable for studying the effects of electrical stimulation on bone cells.
