Acronym: IEoT |
Main Objective: Reinforce research, technological development and innovation Synthesis: This project will take the concept of edge computing to a new level by introducing the third, local edge, tier in addition to the data center and MEC tiers. In complex multi-layered systems such as edge computing, the role of technologies that accommodate realizing, orchestrating and maintaining complex and dynamic service ecosystems and their data management is emphasized. Therefore, in this project we will integrate Artificial intelligence (AI) into edge computing frameworks to build intelligent edge for dynamic, adaptive edge maintenance and management and utilise the full potential of each tier of the IoT Edge architecture to meet different application requirements. This project focuses on developing an intelligent three-tier Edge IoT architecture for enabling novel services around business areas such as smart transportation, smart manufacturing and smart homes. The outcome will facilitate the generation of new business opportunities for companies that will be able to utilise a converged ecosystem based on the three-tier Edge IoT architecture to offer their clients new products and services.
