Acronym: QuantumPrime |
Main Objective: QuantumPrime is a research project focus on the development of a generator of prime numbers based on quantum randomness.. The consortium of this project is composed by Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT), namely the Optical Quantum Communications and Technologies Group (OQCT‐Av) at IT Aveiro and the Security and Quantum Information Group (SQIG‐Lx) at IT Lisbon. In this project, we are going to design and implement a high-rate quantum random number generator (QRNG) based on homodyne measurement of quantum vacuum states. The system will also include real-time post-processing algorithms to remove any possible correlation and biasing phenomenon among the generated bits. Subsequently, we are going to design a protocol to efficiently distillate large-prime numbers from the quantum random number generator output. At the end we intent to implement a service of random prime number generation in a network server to allow the large usage of these prime numbers by the scientific community and by any other entities that required large-prime numbers, generated at very high-rates with perfect randomness, which can only be provided by quantum technology. |
