Project: Study and optimisation of propagation models for 5G

Acronym: Propagation5G
Main Objective:
The main object foreseen for this research project is to create an extensive measurement database, for the development and optimization of propagation models for 5G systems. The experimental characterization of the mobile broadband channel at various signal frequencies, namely in microwave bands currently used by fourth-generation cellular systems and in the millimetre wave bands that will be additionally used by the fifth-generation systems, will provide reliable measurement data on propagation channel parameters with random temporal and spatial variations, which is currently a serious limitation in the current technical literature. The measurement database will be available to the collaborators of both research groups involved in this project, and to other researchers interested in its use. This database will be used to develop accurate and efficient path loss propagation models, suitable for radio-climatic conditions and urbanization characteristics observed in Brazil and Portugal.
