Project: Issues in Transport Architectures and Protocols for Satellite Networks

Acronym: ITAPSN
Main Objective:
The objective of this project is to continue the study of issues on transport architectures and protocols for satellite networks left open at the end of the TPSAT project. These issues include (i) the study of alternative possessing the same funcionality as the architecture developed in the TPSAT proejct, but without the extra connecting layer, (ii) the systematic study of control mechanisms for a transport protocol for the satellite link segment in a split architecture, and (iii) the integration of the architecture developed with the bandwidth-on-demand mechanisms to be available in the next-generation DVB-RCS satellites.
