Acronym: VITALIDI |
Main Objective: The main goal is the development of a biometrics prototype for user authentication or identification on a mobile phone, resorting to external sensors that can be potentially integrated and easily interfaced with (e.g., Electrocardiography (ECG) acquired from the fingers using dry contacts, or electrodermal activity (EDA) - related to emotional responses). This biometric information can be used both for security and/or customization purposes. Furthermore, the proposed setup and evaluation protocol aims at the future integration or adaptation of the system to various domains of application, such as: œ E-commerce and digital transactions (e.g., PC-based and mobile phone access; Near Field Communication (NFC) [BBC2006]); œ Personalization of specific environments (e.g., mobile phone contacts and/or other device settings; user-dependent adjustments in vehicles); œ Access to highly critical information (e.g., Automated Teller Machines (ATM); credit cards; bank accounts); œ Identity recognition in medical and healthcare applications (e.g., elderly peoples residences; remote health monitoring systems) |
