About the position We are looking for a motivated and experienced Postdoc or Scientist for a full-time position, to carry out high-quality research and development on antennas for radio communications. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of high-impact publications in reputable journals and conferences in this area, international recognition of its activities, as well as experience as a principal researcher in securing and leading competitive funding projects and supervising students. Topics include antennas for cubesats, microwave and mm-wave antennas for mobile systems including satellite-on-the-move communications, electromagnetic characterization of materials and MW and mm-W measurements. The candidate must have Lab experience, and expertise required to design and supervise the development of functional prototypes, at least up to TRL 4. The candidate will integrate a dynamic and forward-thinking team composed of senior scientists, researchers, and students. He/she is expected to bring own research ideas and skills to tackle ongoing R&D challenges, in close collaboration with our interdisciplinary team and with external scientific and industrial partners. Our Group publishes in high quality scientific journals and high-quality conferences in Antennas and Propagation and is seeking a researcher that can work for this goal, apply for competitive funding in the framework of projects or contracts, and support our PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. The objective of the work is to improve and evolve the current design of the VDES/AIS antenna for the VDES constellation that is being developed at Instituto de Telecomunicações under WP11 of the Newspace project. It requires taking all the necessary steps to reach a configuration that can be industrialized. This includes the improvement of the current engineering model as well, its extensive test at Instituto de Telecomunicações’ antenna measurement facilities, participation in the antenna tests in certified antenna measurement facilities to be contracted abroad. It also involves the supervision of the fabrication, assembling and test of eleven copies of the final antenna, compatible with space operation environment. |
