About the position We are looking for a motivated and experienced Scientist for a full-time position, to carry out high-quality research and development in Optical Communication Systems. Topics include fiber optic communication systems, ultra-bandwidth optical wireless communications, visible light communications, coherent optical communications, digital signal processing for optical communication systems and optical networks. The candidate must have Lab experience, and expertise required to design and supervise the development of functional prototypes, at least up to TRL 4. The candidate will integrate the IT Optical Communication Systems and Networking (OCSN) cluster in the Coimbra site (OCSN-Co), a dynamic and forward-thinking team composed of senior scientists, researchers, and students. He/she is expected to bring his/her own research ideas and skills to tackle ongoing R&D challenges and collaborate actively with external scientific and industrial partners. The OCSN-Co has a long-standing close collaboration with the OCSN in the Aveiro site (OCSN-Av), in terms of ongoing projects and joint student supervision; in the context of this collaboration, the appointed candidate should be willing to travel frequently to Aveiro for presential meetings and to participate in experimental campaigns at the Aveiro IT site. Our Group publishes in high-quality scientific journals and high-quality conferences in Optical Communication Systems and Networks, and is seeking a researcher that can work for this goal, apply for competitive funding in the framework of projects or contracts, support our PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, as well as participating in Master and PhD courses at the University of Coimbra, namely Optical Communications Systems and Emergent Topics in Optical and Wireless Communication Systems. |
