| Admission Requirements: In what concerns the admission requirements for this research grant in particular: candidates must have a master degree in electrical engineering or related areas and be enrolled in a PhD program in electrical engineering or related areas and have skills in the area of power electronics, programming with Matlab/Simulink, software for designing printed circuit boards and FEA. |
| Work Objectives: The objective of this project is to develop an inWIPT embedded system, adding a second coupling structure to a conventional IPT system. This approach eliminates the use of ring collectors and improves system robustness. However, the inclusion of a second magnetic coupling (A)M changes the intrinsic characteristics of the resonant circuit. The main objective of the work to be carried out during the scholarship is to validate the technical possibility of double coupling in the inWIPT concept, analyzing electric and magnetic circuits for the double coupling option using a demonstrator for proof of concept. The main objectives of the scholarship are with the four main stages of the project corresponding to: (i) Survey and inWIPT energy requirements, loading of positioning tolerances and compliance of errant magnetic fields with human exposure limits; (ii) Analytical derivation and modeling for selected resonant architectures controlled with voltage/current source capabilities; (iii) Magnetic modeling of different cylindrical geometries and inheritance of dimensioning guides; (iv) construction, implementation and validation of the inWIPT demonstrator. |
| Applicable legislation: A fellowship will be celebrated according to the regulations defined by FCT, “Regulation of Instituto de Telecomunicações’ fellowships” and “Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação”, according to Law no. 123/2019, dated August 28 (Status of Scientific Research Fellow), in its actual redaction, and also by Fundação para Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P. | Place of work: The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at Coimbra, under the supervision of Prof. Marina Perdigão. |
| Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of renewal. Start date: 15st of April 2023 or soon thereafter. |
| Monthly salary: 1.199,64 € according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ). The payment will be made by bank transfer. |
