Title:
Research Scholarships for Master in Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering - POCI-01-0145-FEDER-016432- BIM Nº2020/00043
Funding Reference Number:
BIM Nº2020/00043- POCI-01-0145-FEDER-016432
Summary:
The project RETIOT, “Reflectometry Technologies to Enhance the Future Internet of Things and Cyber-Physical Systems, with the reference POCI-01-0145-FEDER-016432, funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Competitiveness and Internationalization Operational Program, Regional Operational Program of Lisbon, Regional Operational Program of the Algarve, in its component FEDER, and the Foundation for Science and Technology. The project RETIOT, POCI-01-0145-FEDER-016432, intends to develop technology that integrates communication and reflectometry functionalities. Within the framework of the RETIOT project, Instituto de Telecomunicações - Polo de Aveiro intends to open and grant 3 fellowships.
Scientific Area:
Wireless Communications
Group:
Mobile Networks – Av
Admission Requirements:
Master in Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering, or related area, with knowledge in the area of signal processing for telecommunications and / or reflectometry. Expertise that may be relevant for the work include: FPGA programming with namely VIVADO; Matlab programming; Experience with USRPs; Signal Processing for Communications. The candidates must be enrolled in a PHD program.
Work Objectives:
The work plan includes the following points:
Grant 1: Experimental performance evaluation of joint waveforms for wireless communications and reflectometry including MIMO. The work will focus on multicarrier waveforms (OFDM type and multicarrier spread spectrum).
Grant 2: Development of simulation tool for cooperative sensing through reflectometry and compressed sensing.
Grant 3: Development of simulation tool for system analysis in cellular systems integrating radar type sensing.
According to the expertise of the candidate and time constraints the experimental performance evaluation can be for the more practical oriented work:
- Real time signal processing implementation in FPGA.
- Offline experimental setup using MATLAB ad interfacing it with programmable commercial hardware modules.
While for the more conceptual it could involve:
• Definition of the software architecture
• Integration of algorithms
• Validation
