Title: Research Grant – BIM/Nº 104/2019 - 5G-AHEAD

Summary: A research position for one Research Grant (“Bolsa de Investigação“) is opened at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of the Project 5G-AHEAD reference IF/FCT- IF/01393/2015/CP1310/CT0002, funded by FCT/MEC through national funds and when applicable co-funded by FEDER – PT2020 partnership agreement. The work for this position is in the area of wireless networking, with emphasis on 5G and beyond, SON, network simulation and optimization

Admission Requirements: Master degree in informatics, telecommunications engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent/similar, with background and experience in wireless communications, 4G/LTE and/or 5G. Proof of knowledge of simulation and software development using Matlab and NS2/3 is a must. Knowledge of C++ will be considered a plus.
Work Objectives: The candidate will work on network optimization based on small cells, virtualization and SON algorithms. The candidate will be required to implement and test the proposed algorithms using simulations (Matlab or NS). The candidate has to understand the requirements of the proposed solutions and what is required to implement on the Simulator.

Place of work: The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at Aveiro, under the scientific supervision of Dr. Ayman Radwan
Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of renewal till the end of the project. Start date: November 2019 or soon thereafter.
Monthly salary: 989.70€ according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores). The payment will be made by bank transfer.

Suitability of the candidates’ profile to the project based on the relevant work experience in the tasks described in the work plan  (50%)
Fluency in oral and written English  (10%)
