TWEVO in the Champions League of European Innovation

... TWEVO, the startup founded by the IT researchers Carlos Ribeiro and Mónica Figueiredo, is the winner of the European Commission´s SME Instrument funding.

The SME Instrument is part of the European Innovation Council (EIC), which supports entrepreneurs, small businesses and scientists with funding opportunities and acceleration services. Has explained on the Horizon 2020 webpage (http://ec.europa.eu/programmes/horizon2020/en/h2020-section/sme-instrument), “The SME instrument supports close-to-market activities, with the aim to give a strong boost to breakthrough innovation with a market-creating potential. Highly innovative SMEs with a clear commercial ambition and a potential for high growth and internationalization are the prime target”. This is “The Champions League of companies”, said Bernd Reichert, Head of SMEs in Horizon 2020 unit.

After a thorough evaluation conducted by a panel of multinational technology, business and financial experts, and having faced the fierce competition of more than 650 other European start-ups, TWEVO came-out on the TOP 5.

This SME Instrument funding will enable TWEVO to access the European market and get feedback on the potential of their product, REVOsdr, which allows real-time communication for future 5G

IT considered the best IP Leiria R&D Unit for the second time

... For the second consecutive year the IT branch in Leiria was distinguished with the Award I&D+i IPLeiria “+Ciência”. This annual award given by the Intituto Politécnico de Leiria distinguishes the Research Unit of IP Leiria with the most standing out performance during the past year. It takes into consideration its scientific outputs, such as indexed publications, conferences, research projects, provided services, published books and book chapters. This distinction also includes the payment of a 12-month research grant to a fellow with a master's degree in Science Management and Communication.

Sérgio Faria, the coordinator of IT in Leiria, received this distinction during the IP Leiria Solemn Opening Session of the new academic year 2017/2018, that took place at the José Lúcio da Silva Theatre, Leiria on the last 16 of November.
