Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT) welcomed a delegation of Ciência Viva to its facilities in Aveiro as part of the celebrations marking the 22nd anniversary of the Fábrica Centro Ciência Viva de Aveiro.
The delegation was led by Dr. Pedro Russo, President of Ciência Viva, and included Dr. Susana Ferreira and Dr. Ivone Fachada. They were joined by Dr. Pedro Pombo, Director of the Fábrica Centro Ciência Viva de Aveiro.
Armando Nolasco Pinto, President of Instituto de Telecomunicações and Professor of the University of Aveiro, hosted the visit, during which the delegation toured several of the institute's research laboratories and learned about ongoing research activities in telecommunications, information and communication technologies.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss new avenues for collaboration between IT and Ciência Viva, reinforcing the long-standing partnership between the two institutions. Discussions focused on potential joint initiatives to promote science, technology, innovation, and public engagement, strengthening the connection between cutting-edge research and society.
This partnership is reflected in the active collaboration between the two institutions, most notably through IT participation in the "Ciência Viva no Laboratório" program. Through this initiative, the Institute welcomes secondary school students to its research branches for summer internships, providing them with direct exposure to scientific research in Information and Communication Technologies.
