Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT) expresses its condolences at the passing of António Almeida, who was our former collaborator within the Antennas and Propagation group at Instituto Superior Técnico.
António Almeida dedicated a large part of his professional career to development in the fields of antennas and propagation, making a decisive contribution to the growth and consolidation of research projects at IT.
Recognized for his technical rigor, his tireless dedication to work, and his constant willingness to support colleagues and students, António became a role model for several generations of researchers. He actively contributed to the education and development of numerous students and collaborators and will be remembered for his expertise, spirit of cooperation, and unwavering commitment to knowledge.
Throughout his career, he worked on particularly demanding scientific challenges, contributing significantly to the advancement of research projects and to the success of experimental and academic work carried out by dozens of students. His professional journey later took him to the Netherlands, where he joined outstanding teams, working at Antenna Company, Eindhoven University of Technology, and ultimately achieving one of his great professional ambitions by joining the European Space Agency (ESA).
We will remember António Almeida as an outstanding professional and a dedicated colleague, whose memory will remain alive among all those who shared work, knowledge, and friendship with him.
