The Education Digest, published by the IEEE Portuguese Education Society Chapter, continues to grow as a leading forum for reflection on Engineering Education, now reaching its third edition with the Spring 2026 issue.

Building on the success of the September 2025 edition, read by more than 500 readers and instrumental in expanding the IEEE Education Society Portugal Chapter community, the publication has evolved into a more structured and impactful platform. This new phase introduces thematic lines that reinforce education as a driving force in engineering: Inclusion in Education, Industry in Education, and Teaching and Learning Approaches.

Within this strengthened framework, the Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT) is proudly represented, highlighting the deep connection between education, research, and industry across its research hubs:

Pedro Rito: Curating a Microelectronics thematic section, bridging Education and Industry
Nuno Borges de Carvalho: Presenting the IEEE HART initiative
Miguel Drummond: Showcasing the PIXEurope photonic pilot line
Alaa AlZailaa: Reflecting on inclusion of international students in academia and technology

This strong presence reflects IT commitment to evidence-based innovation, academic excellence, and inclusive education, while actively contributing to the dialogue that shapes the future of engineering education in Portugal and beyond.

The Spring 2026 edition affirms that education is not only a foundation of engineering, but also a shared space where academia, industry, and research converge to address global challenges.

This edition is coordinated by the editors-in-chief Rui Eduardo Lopes, from IT and Universidade de Aveiro, and Pedro Veloso Teixeira from IQSIGHT (part of the Keenfinity group, previously Bosch Security Systems).
