Técnico Innovation Summit 2026 (TIS 2026) aims to establish itself as the main annual gathering of the innovation ecosystem of Instituto Superior Técnico. This year’s edition took place on February 3, 2026, at the Técnico Innovation Center (TIC).

In its second edition, and building on the momentum of its successful 2024 debut, TIS 2026 brought together Research and Development Units, projects funded under the PRR and European programs, Técnico spin-offs, and the Técnico Partner Network. The one-day event was fully dedicated to applied science, knowledge transfer, and technological entrepreneurship.

As expected, the Instituto de Telecomunicações was actively represented. We showcased our latest research in Antennas and Propagation, where the team Carlos Fernandes, Gonçalo Quintas, and Sérgio Matos highlighted cutting-edge defense-related prototypes, as well as in Quantum Technologies, with the presentation of the recently established QIQO laboratory.

QIQO is a joint venture with IPFN - Instituto de Plasmas e Fusão Nuclear, led by Emmanuel Zambrini Cruzeiro (IT/IST) and Hugo Terças (GoLP/IPFN).

The round-table discussions also featured strong contributions from our community. We were proud to have had Carlos Fernandes participating in the panel on “Sea, Air, Space, Defense and Security” and Mário Figueiredo contributing to the discussion on “Artificial Intelligence, Digital Transition, and Ethics”.
