Stanford University and Elsevier have released the 2025 edition (which refers to 2024) of the list of the world’s top 2% most-cited researchers across a wide range of disciplines, including Artificial Intelligence & Image Processing, Optoelectronics & Photonics, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Information and Communications Technologies, Networking & Telecommunications, and Enabling & Strategic Technologies.

The study spans 22 major scientific fields and 176 subfields, analyzing data from more than 200,000 researchers. Separate rankings are provided for both career-long impact and single-year impact.

The ranking highlights researchers whose publications have had the greatest impact within the academic community and have made significant contributions to global scientific progress.

This year, Instituto de Telecomunicações is proud to have 46 entries, with 19 researchers featured in the single-year impact category and 27 researchers in the career-long impact category. These are:
