Startup Leiria has elected TWEVO as its startup of the month.

TWEVO was a spin-off created in Instituto de Telecomunicações and Polytechnic of Leiria, by our researchers Carlos Ribeiro and Mónica Figueiredo, also professors in Electrical Engineering at the Polytechnic of Leiria. TWEVO rapidly caught the attention of multiple industries by addressing key challenges in the glass packaging industry and the automotive industry.

In the glass packaging sector, TWEVO offers a real-time monitoring solution that enables precise tracking of various objects along extensive production lines. This solution detects process degradations, failures, and anomalies, generating alerts to notify operators and supervisors. Operational data is automatically collected and processed, providing valuable visual and statistical insights that enhance production efficiency.

In the automotive industry, TWEVO has introduced a quality assurance solution for production processes involving metallic parts (painted surfaces) and plastic parts (transparent and reflective surfaces). This technology identifies aesthetic defects and supports assembly process supervision by detecting anomalies and ensuring that human-performed tasks conform to required standards.

TWEVO’s internationalization efforts are being supported by Instituto Pedro Nunes through its Pro-Global internationalization program, and by AICEP, which is helping to establish partnerships in strategic countries and market segments. Since its market debut in 2024, TWEVO has already secured significant partnerships. Stellantis selected TWEVO to implement its assembly process supervision system at Peugeot’s largest factory in Sochaux, France, marking the first step toward global adoption of the technology within the Stellantis group. Additionally, the Spanish group Vidrala has entrusted TWEVO with solutions for glass packaging process supervision, and the Vangest group in Portugal is using TWEVO’s technology for real-time detection of aesthetic defects in plastic parts.

This early success underscores TWEVO’s potential to drive impactful improvements in production processes across various industries.
